I decided to try the Early to Rise Challenge hosted by Money Saving Mom. I picked a not so great day to start! We just started the Spring Forward time, so it is going to be harder to get used to this time.
I have a hard time getting up any earlier than I already do because my kids school bus comes so early. I set the alarm clock on my Kindle for 6:30am most of the time we do not end up getting up until 6:45am because we push the snooze button. I decided I could get up 30 minutes earlier. So, I got up at 6am this morning. I get my kids snacks and back packs ready and then wake them up. This morning I was also able to post my menu and put in a load of laundry before waking my kids. After my kids leave, I get ready for the day and wait for a phone call since I am a substitute teacher. Then I have some more time to do what I want if I do not get called.

Some things I want to do in the morning:
1. Pack snacks and get back packs ready
2. Do a load of laundry
3. Read scriptures/ personal prayer
4. Read a fun book (at least 1 chapter)
5. Exercise
6. Make my bed
7. Drink my water

I might not get all of these things done, but I am going to take baby steps to try and start doing better in making my mornings help my get my day off to a great start.

I personally think to have a great morning, I have to get ready at night. I plan to write out a plan each night of what I want to do the next day. (This will sometimes change if I get called to work.)

This morning I also woke my kids up at 6:30am instead of 6:45. This 15 minutes extra really helped. We were not struggling to get ready in time for the bus and I actually had time to talk to my kids instead of screaming at them to get ready or they were going to miss the bus.

Money Saving Mom offers some great ideas on what to do in the morning in her post 15 things you can do each morning to make your day more successful. Check this out if you are trying to figure out some things you could do in the morning.
We will definitely be seeing this recipe again at my house! I was using pantry items to make this meal and all I had was a whole chicken. I baked it using the high heat method. It was quick and easy! If you like your Mexican HOT choose the hot enchilada sauce.

Ingredients
1 cup (4oz) pre-shredded 4-cheese Mexican blend cheese, divided
1/3 cup fat-free milk
1/4 cup egg substitute
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
1 (14 3/4-ounce) can cream-style corn
1 (8.5-ounce) box corn muffin mix (I used Jiffy)
1 (4-ounce) can chopped green chiles, drained
non-stick cooking spray
1 (10-ounce) can red enchilada sauce (I used Old El Paso mild)
2 cups shredded cooked chicken breast
1/2 cup fat-free sour cream

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

2. Combine 1/4 cup cheese and the next 7 ingredients (through chiles) in a large bowl, stirring just until moist. Pour mixture into 9 x 13 inch baking dish coated with cooking spray.

3. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes or until set (I had to cook mine a little longer.) Pierce entire surface liberally with a fork; pour enchilada sauce over top. Top with chicken; sprinkle with remaining 3/4 cup cheese. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes or until cheese melts. Remove from oven; let stand for 5 minutes. Cut into 8 pieces; top each serving with 1 tablespoon sour cream.
I try to make meals my whole family will eat. I linked recipes from my old blog, but many of them will not have the new points+. I plan to refigure points+ as I make them and plan to post those recipes on this blog as I try to move things over to this new blog. This menu came by planning with what I had on hand and only getting milk and produce.
It's been raining ALOT and sometimes severe storms with the rain. When it's not raining it's too hot to go out, we have had heat advisories for the past week. It's the end of summer vacation and staying inside so much has not been fun for my kids.

Things that make me happy:
My garden although it is begining to look bad with so much rain and heat.

Books I'm Reading:
Right now I'm reviewing the book Wyoming Sweethearts by Jullian Hart on my Kindle, it's a Love Inspired selection for August.

What's on my TV today:
I don't really follow a lot of TV shows in the summer. We will probably pick a movie or TV show from Netflix. We are taking advantage of the free month trial for the instant downloads. We can watch through our Wii or computer. I've been enjoying old episodes of Clean House.

On the menu for dinner:
Tacos (I have a bunch of taco meat premade in my freezer, which will make this meal so easy to cook!) and Spanish Rice

On my to-do list:
Laundry (it's neverending with a family of 6!), clean up kitchen, make some granola bars, pick up living room. Next month I start doing some deep cleaning and getting rid of a ton of stuff!

New recipe I tried or want to try soon:

In the craft basket:
I have not really been making much time for crafting.

Looking forward to this week:
We get paid so picking up some school supplies. I love back to school shopping and school supplies!

Tips and Tricks:
Recently I made my own hamburger and hot dog buns. I learned a trick to make the hamburger buns look prettier and I plan to try this soon. Homemade Kaiser Buns.
That summer is too short. I have loved spending time with my kids this summer and can't believe it's almost time for them to go back. All my kids will be in school for the first time this year and that really makes me want to cherish every day I have with them at home!

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:
John 14:15: If you love me , keep my comandments. (We can show our Father in Heaven how much we love him by just keeping his commandments. That might not always be easy but we should be willing to do that for our Heavenly Father to show him that we love him.)Loriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12673500287167134482noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7865526109033643909.post-50358380324875989002011-01-21T08:21:00.000-08:002011-01-21T08:21:08.360-08:00A House of Order

Clutter, we all have it! We just have to keep on top of it and get rid of it. My clutter story starts when I got out of college and moved into my first apartment. I remember looking at the stuff on the floor and thinking I don't have anything. After that when ever I found something on sale I would buy it and store it thinking I might need it later. I devoted a whole bedroom to my "what I might need later. Then I got married and got some new stuff that my husband brought with him. Then we had a baby and reorganized out stuff to fit into his closet. We then moved into a three bedroom home and I felt like I finally had more room. One room became a storage room. We then had twins and my laundry room became a storage room. We got pregnant again and our last child lived in our room and my bedroom became a place of piles and junk! That's how I got to where I am. I want to make my home a House of Order. I started this blog to get organized but I'll have other home related stuff here too. Can't wait to get started on A House of Order.Loriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12673500287167134482noreply@blogger.com1
